Festival Journey - Go Dutch

This year we have a number of Dutch artists bringing work to the Festival, so for a cultural getaway to Holland right on your doorstep, check out these acts.

MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR

The Analogues have taken Holland by storm and now come to Norwich for their UK Premiere.

‘Frighteningly good!’ **** de Volkskrant, 'A true spectacle!’ **** Het Parool

They take their name from their dedication to recreating the complex and layered sound of The Beatles, sidestepping all digital effects and supported by a battery of vintage instruments. Recreating the Magical Mystery Tour, which the Beatles themselves never performed live, there are as many technicians as musicians on stage in this creative sonic experiment.

BUILDING CONVERSATION

Dutch artists Lotte van den Berg and Daan ‘t Sas have created a way to use conversation as an artwork. Building Conversation invites you to a passionate conversation, no small talk, a place where contrary opinions are carved out and conflicts are shared and experienced. Take part in one of four conversations that use techniques gathered from a quantum physicist, a Maori tradition, an Inuit conversation without words and the practice of Jesuit monks.

WALK WITH ME

People are always surrounded by sound, wherever they are: Strijbos & Van Rijswijk use this idea in their new commission, Walk With Me, to create an immersive cinematic experience like no other.  As you plug in your headphones and take a walk around the beautiful setting of Felbrigg Hall, sound bites, sonic landscapes, words, music and natural sounds play into your ear, creating an intriguing narrative by local writer, Megan Bradbury.

TIN MEN AND THE TELEPHONE

Jazz musicians, Tin Men and the Telephone, draw on modern jazz, contemporary classical music, hip-hop, Balkan music and audience participation in their dynamic, improvised show. Using their revolutionary new app ‘Tinmendo’ audiences can create beats, send video messages and vote on the direction the music should go in this spontaneous, interactive performance.
