Back to Arts Award Stories

20Twenty are an arts organisation working in the heart of the Fenland town of March. They work in partnership with children and young people, artists and organisations to develop and deliver creative activities, events and opportunities. Their mission is to build confidence, develop skills and promote community cohesion for children and young people. They are an Arts Award Centre and deliver all 5 levels of Arts Award. Their team directly deliver Arts Awards projects both in school and as part of their other projects in the region.

“Over the last year, 20 Twenty Productions has delivered Discover Arts Award Days in several local primary schools. The children are off timetable for the day and take part in a variety of arts activities including drumming, collage, musical theatre, story making, singing and drama and they complete a bespoke Discover booklet. The days are always great fun and the children are often wowed by working with professional creatives! This is especially important to us as this area of East Anglia traditionally has very low arts engagement levels and being a rural community many children do not have the opportunity to participate in the arts or regularly benefit from cultural pursuits.

From a personal point of view, working with both Key Stage 1 and 2 children has really helped me to develop that area of my artistic practice; sharing my passion for visual arts with them in fun and creative ways, thinking about cross-curricular activities to support and encourage exploration of the arts, and ensuring an experience which is non judgemental and allows them to be creatively expressive across a range of activities.

I love being an Arts Award advisor! Inspiring young people to embrace the arts and develop their creativity and leadership skills is a wonderful thing! I never tire of seeing young people grow and develop in the arts.” Marian Savill, Executive Director and Arts Award Adviser, 20Twenty Productions

“I really enjoyed my Bronze Arts Award because it gave me a lot of confidence and it gave me the experience of performing to a lot of people which I hadn’t had before.” Lily, 20Twenty Productions

“I’ve completed my Bronze Arts Award and have started my Silver. I think it’s helped me gain confidence, help me grow in my creativity and it’s made me a better performer” Eden, 20Twenty Productions
