The winning entries will be illustrated by Illustration students at Norwich University of the Arts and displayed in The Book Hive window during Norfolk & Norwich Festival 2020.

Free Creative Writing Bootcamps

Schools will have the opportunity to sign up for a free workshop for their students in October 2019, as the perfect preparation for writing their piece.

These workshops, to be held at your school, will be like a creative writing bootcamp.  Students will generate ideas for the competition and learn useful writing tips that will help them prepare for their GCSEs and A Levels. Having pitched the word count of the competition at 1000 words max to mimic the average exam essay response, this competition will not only give students an opportunity to profile their writing talents, but also help prepare them for their upcoming exams. The workshops can be tailored to fit specific exam texts that students will be working on, please ask us about this upon booking for more information.

The workshop will last for a double lesson period, dates and times can be negotiated.
Flash sessions of 45-60 minutes are available but would be a less in depth session.

Please contact Sarah Witcomb, Creative Learning Manager, to book your place: sarah@nnfestival.org.uk or call 01603 877750

Arts make life better

Norfolk & Norwich Festival brings tens of thousands of people together in celebration – it has been doing this for 250 years. Through our May Festival and our year-round arts education work, focusing on children and young people, we lead and support celebration, creativity and curiosity in communities across Norfolk and the region.

This year we begin an exciting new initiative, Festival Connect & Create that will bring creative opportunities to those schools and communities with least provision. Creativity transforms people’s lives. It builds cohesive communities, develops vital skills and supports health and wellbeing. We want more people to have access to creative opportunities.

Please consider donating to support and develop this work. With your help we can increase access to the life changing power of the arts.
