Norfolk & Norwich Festival 2020 has been cancelled
It is with regret that we have taken the very difficult but ultimately inevitable decision to cancel the 2020 Norfolk & Norwich Festival.
With the rapidly escalating health-crisis and with the safety of our audiences, staff and artists at heart, we have taken the decision that it is impossible for us to deliver the Festival this May.
If you have booked a ticket for the Festival, you do not need to do anything. You are entitled to a refund and we will be in touch soon. Please bear with us during this difficult time. If you have the capacity to make a donation of part or all of your ticket value, we would be extremely grateful – it would help ensure we’re well-placed to support artists and be able to present future Festivals.
Jenny Knight and Eva Verde both featured in the celebrated anthology Common People: An Anthology of Working Class Writers, edited by Kit de Waal. Together, they will explore common themes of loss and love in their writing, and the process of working towards their full-length debuts.
Jenny and Eva’s conversation will be chaired by Sunday Times bestselling author Cathy Rentzenbrink, who also featured in the Common People anthology.

About the writers
Born and bred in rural Suffolk, Jenny Knight is a freelance copywriter and editor living in south Norfolk with her husband and two teenage sons. She was a contributor to the celebrated Common People: An Anthology of Working-Class Writers, edited by Kit de Waal. A prize-winning writer of short fiction and memoir, she attended PRH WriteNow 2018 and her work has won or been highly listed in many competitions, including the Bridport, Fish Memoir, SSWJ, and a 2019 Arts Council/TLC award. Her writing has appeared in several publications and she’s written two novels. She’s currently submitting her first full-length memoir.
Eva Verde is a writer from Forest Gate, East London and is of dual heritage. Identity, class and otherness are recurring themes throughout her work as she studies towards an MA in Creative Writing. Her memoir piece, ‘I am not your Tituba’ was recently selected to form part of Kit De Waal’s Common People: An Anthology of Working-Class Writers, with Unbound. She is long-listed for the unpublished category first Comedy Women in Print Prize 2019 for her debut book Little Lives Like Mine. Eva lives in Essex with her husband and three daughters.
Cathy Rentzenbrink was born in Cornwall, grew up in Yorkshire and now lives in London, where she works as a writer and journalist. She is the author of the Sunday Times bestselling memoir The Last Act of Love, which was shortlisted for the Wellcome Book Prize.
