An open invitation, to join us for virtual tea and cake in the Death Café discussion space. At a Death Café people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death. For this Norfolk & Norwich Festival edition, we’ve moved the discussion online.

This is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session.

About Arrivals + Departures

Death Café is just one in a series of free events around Arrivals + Departures, which includes talks and workshops that invite people to engage more deeply with the themes of life and death. Arrivals + Departures is a public artwork about birth, death and the journey in between. The public are invited to share the names of those who have arrived and departed, on live boards, as a way to acknowledge, celebrate and commemorate.

Names can be submitted in real time at the Arrivals + Departure boards, and also online at www.arrivalsanddepartures.net.

Norfolk & Norwich Festival brings tens of thousands of people together in celebration – it has been doing this for nearly 250 years. Through our arts education work, we lead and support celebration, creativity and curiosity in communities across Norfolk.

2021 offers hope for the creative sector, and as an arts charity, we are redoubling our efforts to share meaningful art and cultural experiences with people across Norfolk. We rely on support from our audiences, partners and supporters to continue to bring innovative and inspirational programming and commissioning to the region, and to empower those who might not otherwise have access to the life-changing power of the arts.
