Watching a Peregrine Falcon swoop across Norwich’s sky and land on its iconic cathedral spire is a spectacular sight that many people enjoy witnessing. Peregrines have resided here for 10 years, nesting on a platform constructed by the Hawk and Owl Trust and erected by the local Fire Service.

The fastest member of the animal kingdom and a remarkable example of urban wildlife, they are an extraordinary species to have as neighbours. This performance explores our co-existence with Peregrine Falcons and their significant contribution to Norwich’s skyscape and community.

During lockdown, four local artists have worked with community groups to develop original performative artworks depicting and celebrating the Peregrines of Norwich Cathedral. Together they present ‘Peregrinations’ a performance featuring live art, physical theatre, kinetic sculpture and spoken word. ‘Peregrinations’ is curated by Holly Bodmer, featuring performance and art by Alice Lee with Norwich Men’s Shed, Eyebrow Arts (Dot Howard and Sorrel Muggridge), with Corton House Residential Home, Rebecca Chapman with members of Total Ensemble and Holly Bodmer with Su Squire and members of Norwich Community. Supported by Arts Council England, Norfolk and Norwich Festival, Hawk and Owl Trust, Norwich Peregrines Group and Norfolk County Council.

Norfolk & Norwich Festival brings tens of thousands of people together in celebration – it has been doing this for nearly 250 years. Through our arts education work, we lead and support celebration, creativity and curiosity in communities across Norfolk.

2021 offers hope for the creative sector, and as an arts charity, we are redoubling our efforts to share meaningful art and cultural experiences with people across Norfolk. We rely on support from our audiences, partners and supporters to continue to bring innovative and inspirational programming and commissioning to the region, and to empower those who might not otherwise have access to the life-changing power of the arts.
