Strijbos & Van Rijswijk

Signal At Dusk

This is a past event which has now ended.

Jeroen Strijbos and Rob van Rijswijk are sound artists from The Netherlands. With their landscape operas and Walk With Me tours they have been performing all over the world for more than 10 years, immersing well known places in sounds and music.

In 2021, they performed Signal on the Dachstein Glacier in Austria, on Irvine Beach in Scotland and on a monumental Watchtower in the north of The Netherlands, each time creating a special performance exclusively for that place and time.

For Norfolk & Norwich Festival, they composed a piece with their renowned Signal technology. Twenty long throw speakers and four live sopranos will transform the surroundings of Great Yarmouth, from the beach to the city, and you are in control of your own musical experience.

The music changes as the landscape changes, but the pace and the exact manner is up to you.

Two site-specific performances accompany the installation, in which live sopranos provide a captivating transformation of the town and beach around them.

Please also visit Signal On Sea for the daytime performances.

Arts make life better

Norfolk & Norwich Festival brings tens of thousands of people together in celebration – it has been doing this for 250 years. Through our May Festival and our year-round arts education work, focusing on children and young people, we lead and support celebration, creativity and curiosity in communities across Norfolk and the region.

This year we begin an exciting new initiative, Festival Connect & Create that will bring creative opportunities to those schools and communities with least provision. Creativity transforms people’s lives. It builds cohesive communities, develops vital skills and supports health and wellbeing. We want more people to have access to creative opportunities.

Please consider donating to support and develop this work. With your help we can increase access to the life changing power of the arts.
