Tombland (Event)

Jay Bernard & Mwen

This is a past event which has now ended.

Discover the process behind Tombland: a fragmentary digital soundscape which blurs the boundaries between words, music and place.

At the end of 2020, Sunday Times Award-winning writer Jay Bernard and sound designer, music producer and DJ, Mwen spent a week together in the beautiful grounds of Dragon Hall – creating sounds and making up songs. A 15th-century medieval trading hall which has had many uses over time, Dragon Hall became a space for communing with the sheer weighty history present in the room. Join Jay and Mwen as they discuss the process behind making Tombland: a game in which you can re-mix the sounds they created during that week.

This event is part of the City of Literature programme, in partnership with National Centre for Writing.

Arts make life better

Norfolk & Norwich Festival brings tens of thousands of people together in celebration – it has been doing this for 250 years. Through our May Festival and our year-round arts education work, focusing on children and young people, we lead and support celebration, creativity and curiosity in communities across Norfolk and the region.

This year we begin an exciting new initiative, Festival Connect & Create that will bring creative opportunities to those schools and communities with least provision. Creativity transforms people’s lives. It builds cohesive communities, develops vital skills and supports health and wellbeing. We want more people to have access to creative opportunities.

Please consider donating to support and develop this work. With your help we can increase access to the life changing power of the arts.
