Houghton Hall

About the venue

Houghton Hall is a stately home in Houghton. It was built in the 1720’s for Great Britain’s first Prime Minister, and is a great example of Palladian architecture.

Getting There

Bus/Train The nearest train station is Kings Lynn. Regular train services are running from and to Norwich. Taxis from Kings Lynn Station to Houghton Hall take approximately 25 minutes.

Car Houghton Hall is located half a mile off the A148 King’s Lynn to Fakenham road, approximately 13 miles from East of King’s Lynn and 10 miles West of Fakenham. Brown Tourist Signs indicate the turning off the A148. The road takes you through New Houghton, the main gates to the Hall are straight ahead. Drive through the main gates and follow the drive up through the Deer Park to the car park. Designated Blue Badge parking is available in the car park.

Accessibility

There is level access through Houghton Hall and its grounds. The paths in the Walled Garden are gravel and mown grass. Reaching all of the Houghton Outdoor Sculptures by wheelchair or in a pushchair will be rather hard going especially for some less abled to push

Unfortunately due to Covid 19 restrictions the 2 Electric Mobility Buggies are NOT available in the garden for use by those less able to walk any great distance for the foreseeable future.

Due to Covid 19 most of the House is not open.  Unfortunately there is no disabled access to the house this year.

Toilets, including accessible toilets, are available in The Stables Café. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, please contact Houghton Hall directly to confirm availability of toilets.
