Wayfaring Workshop
Facilitated by Holkham Estate, Kate Munro & And Now:
Wednesday 23 & Thursday 24 May, 9.30am & 1pm
Schools are invited to the woods and beach at Wells to work with facilitators from Norfolk & Norwich Festival and Holkham Estate. Pupils will have the opportunity to speak with professionals from the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which is celebrating 50 years of protection of the area this year, and meet artists from And Now: to find out about the national project Wayfaring.
Wayfaring is a journey of exploration, inspired by the present landscape and ancient routes of the Icknield Way. Along these routes, artists And Now: will create a series of artworks in Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty inviting audiences to think about movement and migration; how we arrive at, understand, inhabit and leave a space.
Using local and found materials the artists will craft an installation on Wells beach which audiences can move through, investigate and contribute to. Students will have the opportunity to take part in arts activities based on the main installation by And Now: including outdoor craft activities inspired by the landscapes of the woods and beach, as well interacting with the installation.
Free transport, funded by the Norfolk Coast Partnership, is available for schools situated in or near the area of outstanding natural beauty. Please contact us to find out if your school is in this area. Don’t miss out!
