Antony Hopkins Becomes Director

An eleven day music festival, as part of a run of triennial events.

The expanding fringe events of the Festival this year included a veteran car rally, walking tours and street theatre.

Sculptures including one by Barbara Hepworth were installed in the Castle Gardens.

Broadcaster and composer Antony Hopkins was appointed the Festival’s artistic director and the Ad Hocs sponsored the opening concert from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Hopkins himself also composed a new work for the Festival – A Time for Growing – which was performed by 500 local children.
