Digital Creative Content for Schools (The Moving IT On Series)

Explore more resources for:

‘Moving IT On’ was a mixed programme, employing different approaches to exploring and improving the digital delivery of creative and cultural education.

Here you can find an updated toolkit for producing digital content to support teachers in education settings. This toolkit is for any cultural organisation or artist who is looking to create quality digital learning opportunities for schools.

At the time the first iteration of this report was written in 2018 many arts and heritage organisations were taking their first steps into the realm of digital. No one could have predicted that just 18 months on, these approaches would be our only means of connecting and engaging with audiences during the Covid-19 pandemic. Our skills and perhaps more significantly our attitudes to technology have shifted considerably over the last few years and although there is little to help us predict what the future might hold, we do know that the learning from the lockdown should not be wasted. At a point when many organisations are considering their next steps in their digital offer, the original toolkit has been updated and re-published as a way to provide some prompts and guidance to help organisations consider where to now place time and resource in an area that requires so much of both.

The toolkit can be worked through from beginning to end but each section can also be used as a standalone resource.

The sections are as follows:

  • In Brief p1
  • Creating Content p2
  • Discoverability p5
  • Getting Technical p8
  • Copyright p10
  • Measuring Impact p12
  • Online Safety p13

Arts make life better

Norfolk & Norwich Festival brings tens of thousands of people together in celebration – it has been doing this for over 250 years. Through our May Festival and our year-round arts education work, focusing on children and young people, we lead and support celebration, creativity and curiosity in communities across Norfolk and the region.

This year we begin an exciting new initiative, Festival Connect & Create that will bring creative opportunities to those schools and communities with least provision. Creativity transforms people’s lives. It builds cohesive communities, develops vital skills and supports health and wellbeing. We want more people to have access to creative opportunities.

Please consider donating to support and develop this work. With your help we can increase access to the life changing power of the arts.
