Queer dance theatre company Thick & Tight are linking up with Queer Birders Norfolk in the research of their new show Natural Behaviour, which will explore how diversity and queerness is essential to life. Participants will share their experiences which will feed into the shows creation but won’t be performers in the show.

Join the Queer Birders and Thick & Tight for a birdwatching afternoon around Whitlingham Lake and a movement workshop lead by Thick & Tight the following day.

Saturday 25 January, 12noon – 3pm – Whitlingham Country Park
Queer Birders have invited Thick & Tight to a field trip to Whitlingham Lake for a day out birding where they expect to see waterfowl and forest birds. This will be an opportunity to meet others with similar interests and spend some time outdoors enjoying nature.

Sunday 26 January, 1.30pm – 5pm – The Garage
The following day Thick & Tight have invited Queer Birders to take part in a free workshop to explore the themes through movement, creative expression and discussion.
We know that not everyone feels comfortable with movement or dance. We would hate this to put people off attending, so there will be alternative ways for people to engage if they don’t want to move!

On May the 3rd and 4th there will be a follow up field trip and workshop, where Thick & Tight will be joined by dance artist and disability advocate Annie Edwards, who will be performing in Natural Behaviour.

We hope that participants will be able to attend both walks and workshops in January and May, but we ask that participants attend at least one walk and the following workshop.

By booking below you will have a space on the walk on Sat 25th and workshop on Sun 26th.

If you have any questions before signing up, please email Dan on Daniel.randall@nnfestival.org.uk

Arts make life better

Norfolk & Norwich Festival brings tens of thousands of people together in celebration – it has been doing this for over 250 years. Through our May Festival and our year-round arts education work, focusing on children and young people, we lead and support celebration, creativity and curiosity in communities across Norfolk and the region.

This year we begin an exciting new initiative, Festival Connect & Create that will bring creative opportunities to those schools and communities with least provision. Creativity transforms people’s lives. It builds cohesive communities, develops vital skills and supports health and wellbeing. We want more people to have access to creative opportunities.

Please consider donating to support and develop this work. With your help we can increase access to the life changing power of the arts.
