GO GENTLY INTO THE GARDEN OF [IM]POSSIBLE DREAMS
Saturday 9 – Sunday 24 May, 12-4pm
PRIMEYARC
Closed Mondays & Tuesdays
You’re invited to go gently into the garden of [im]possible dreams – a new ‘3-D collage’ exploring entanglements between nature, chronic illness and possibility. Come and experience our ‘in-progress’ artwork – especially created for this Norfolk & Norwich Festival.
Visual art, plants, text, cyanotypes, and naturally dyed yarns have been thoughtfully woven together to create an imagined garden of ideas. go gently into the garden of [im]possible dreams is an immersive experience which invites you to respond to provocations on ‘nature-connection’, ‘slowliness’ and ‘different ways of being in the world’.
The exhibition is part of a long-term collaboration between people living in, or close to, Great Yarmouth, the *conditions apply artist collective, and Yarmouth based originalprojects;. Over five months, *conditions apply curated a series of participatory experiences for residents who identify as living with chronic illness and/or as Disabled. People were welcomed into a gentle space which prioritised access, equity, conversation and creativity. Together we experimented with different artistic processes and we co-created go gently into the garden of [im]possible dreams. *conditions apply are a collective of East Anglian artists who identity as living with chronic illness and/or as Disabled.
*conditions apply is a wry take on the small print that no-one ever reads and also an acknowledgement of the day-to-day impacts of medical conditions.
