John Beckworth Gets Involved
A fundraising sermon with musical performances, to raise money for the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.
Member of a musically influential family in the city, John Beckwith, began his involvement with the annual sermon and the musical repertoire expanded accordingly.
Attendees to the sermon could now expect to hear extracts from Handel’s Messiah, a work which would remain one of the most frequently performed at the festival for decades to come.
