1797
The First Female Soloist
A fundraising sermon with musical performances, to raise money for the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.
For the first time, a female soloist took to the stage to sing a solo. The singer was local, but her name has not been recorded.
The featuring of a soprano soloist would continue as part of the annual sermon regularly from this point onwards.
The band featured a new set of drums in 1797, which had been paid for by the hospital governors.
