Another Grand Musical Festival
A fundraising sermon with musical performances, to raise money for the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.
The annual sermon was coming in for an increasing amount of criticism over its length and, as such, the musical portion before the sermon itself was dropped, despite being one of the most popular aspects of the whole event.
Another Grand Musical Festival was held in 1822, this time entirely based at the Theatre Royal, although the set-up was not as impressive as when it had been tried in 1809, and the venture lost money.
