The Festival Moves To Spring
The 2002 Festival made a move from its traditional time of late autumn to the spring, where it has remained ever since. This gave the opportunity for greater involvement of schools and outreach events, as well as more conducive weather for street theatre, carnivals, and fringe events.
The growing literary programme took a step forward with readings from Rose Tremain, George Szirtes and Andrew Motion.
