2005
Jonathon Holloway Becomes Festival Director
Jonathan Holloway was appointed festival director and introduced a greater number of site-specific installations and high impact launch events, resulting in an 60% increase in attendance in the first year alone.
The 2005 festival introduced the free family day and the Luminarium – an inflatable sculpture of air and light – it was one of the year’s most popular installations.
The Festival showcases the work of innovative choreographer Matthew Bourne – a reworking of ‘La Sylphide’ where a young Glaswegian is enticed beyond the mean streets and night clubs of Glasgow.
