GURDJIEFF ENSEMBLE
At this year’s Festival, Gurdjieff Ensemble treated a sold-out St Peter Mancroft to a spellbinding programme of ancient folk music. We’re delighted to share this with you today – their performance of G.I. Gurdjieff’s Chant From a Holy Book, arranged by Levon Eskeian. Listen as this exquisite moment of haunting beauty unfolds, the mournful tone of the Armenian duduk echoing around the nave as an enraptured audience watches on. Here was an example of music from an ancient time refusing to fade quietly into history, reasserting its deep contemporary relevance.
