MUSICIAN CALLOUT: HIGH VOLTAGE

WELCOME, ROCKSTARS!

You are invited to take part and ROCK OUT as part of opening night for this year’s Festival!

Acclaimed Australian artist Joseph O’Farrell (JOF) and Sam Halmarack present a modern-day mash up of dance, music and performance that showcases the musical talent of the local community, in a heartfelt celebration of how music shapes the lives of the people who play it.

High Voltage embraces the general public’s love of live music and dance, throwing open the doors to community members to engage in an opening night performance that gives everyday guitarists the opportunity to play in the middle of the city!

Anyone and everyone can sign up to be part of this opening event – so dust off your guitars and get on board.

Locations: Norwich, Ipswich & Great Yarmouth.

Once you select your location, that’s your team for the duration of the project. Each team will learn three classic rock songs including the finale song, I Love Rock n Roll, which all 200 guitarists will rock out on together!

All skill levels and ages can participate. To participate, we ask that you show up having a good idea of how to play the songs. You’ll be sent a song book with the tabs and playing instructions after you register. You will need to attend a minimum of two workshops in your chosen location, plus the tech rehearsal and show (of course you are welcome to attend more workshops).

When is it happening?

Workshops will be held across Ipswich , Great Yarmouth and Norwich starting late April through to 8th May.

Thursday 8 May, 4-8pm – Tech rehearsal

Friday 9 May, 4.30-7.30pm – SHOW Day

Arts make life better

Norfolk & Norwich Festival brings tens of thousands of people together in celebration – it has been doing this for over 250 years. Through our May Festival and our year-round arts education work, focusing on children and young people, we lead and support celebration, creativity and curiosity in communities across Norfolk and the region.

This year we begin an exciting new initiative, Festival Connect & Create that will bring creative opportunities to those schools and communities with least provision. Creativity transforms people’s lives. It builds cohesive communities, develops vital skills and supports health and wellbeing. We want more people to have access to creative opportunities.

Please consider donating to support and develop this work. With your help we can increase access to the life changing power of the arts.
