Become a Friend

Postcard Memories - Ela Orleans

Remember the magic and joy of sending and receiving postcards by creating memories of Great Yarmouth to share with your loved ones

Interested in igniting a connection, Ela Orleans developed Postcard Memories over the course of several visits to Great Yarmouth.

“I’ve received many postcards over the years which I’ve kept as precious tokens, regardless of changing life circumstances. Sadly, today people rarely physically contact others in this way. Instead, they get our updates about holidays and relationship status via social media. It’s convenient but stripped of reflection directed specifically at those we love.
I hope this project will inspire to reflect on the importance of friendship, love and attachment”

Original music and soundscape, interwoven with stories told by locals, will accompany you to five sites in Great Yarmouth all illustrated on a beautiful printed map. As you visit these locations and reflect on them, you can share these thoughts with friends and family through postcards of each place you visit.

Arts make life better

Norfolk & Norwich Festival brings tens of thousands of people together in celebration – it has been doing this for 250 years. Through our May Festival and our year-round arts education work, focusing on children and young people, we lead and support celebration, creativity and curiosity in communities across Norfolk and the region.

This year we begin an exciting new initiative, Festival Connect & Create that will bring creative opportunities to those schools and communities with least provision. Creativity transforms people’s lives. It builds cohesive communities, develops vital skills and supports health and wellbeing. We want more people to have access to creative opportunities.

Please consider donating to support and develop this work. With your help we can increase access to the life changing power of the arts.
