Crossing the Line

December 2024 – May 2025

Crossing the Line is the award-winning debut novel by Tia Fisher, based on the true story of a Norfolk boy who is sucked into the terrifying new world of drug dealing by a County Lines gang. Our Connect & Create team is proud to support St George’s Theatre Company in Great Yarmouth on the research & development of adapting the novel for the stage.

During this R&D phase, St George’s Theatre is working with Tia, a director, and a playwright, to co-design with young people from the Nelson Ward in Great Yarmouth, and experts from the St Giles Trust, to create a relevant and engaging piece of performance for secondary school students, teachers and parents. The piece will highlight the dangers posed by County Lines.

A sharing of the work-in-progress piece will be performed during Norfolk & Norwich Festival 2025. The sharing will be followed by a Q&A with Tia and the creative team. Full details on the performance and tickets can be found here: https://nnfestival.org.uk/whats-on/crossing-the-line/

Arts make life better

Norfolk & Norwich Festival brings tens of thousands of people together in celebration – it has been doing this for over 250 years. Through our May Festival and our year-round arts education work, focusing on children and young people, we lead and support celebration, creativity and curiosity in communities across Norfolk and the region.

This year we begin an exciting new initiative, Festival Connect & Create that will bring creative opportunities to those schools and communities with least provision. Creativity transforms people’s lives. It builds cohesive communities, develops vital skills and supports health and wellbeing. We want more people to have access to creative opportunities.

Please consider donating to support and develop this work. With your help we can increase access to the life changing power of the arts.
