A major new work celebrating the culmination of Fenland Creatives.
We’re pleased to announce that nationally celebrated choreographer Dan Canham has secured Arts Council funding for an ambitious culmination of his three-year residency with Norfolk & Norwich Festival. Lowlands, a new dance-film project, will be created in Dan’s native Fenland alongside 60 local youth dancers. The film will explore the land of The Fens, identity, and a rapidly changing landscape. Blending striking terrain, choreographic and cinematic experimentation, and community collaboration, it will capture the dancers evolving relationship to place and to one another.
Lowlands will premiere as part of Norfolk & Norwich Festival 2027.
Co-commissioned by Norfolk & Norwich Festival, 20Twenty and in partnership with 4D Dance, Dance East, Abbey College Ramsey, Wildlife Trust for Beds, Cambs and Northants, Moving Art Management and Sadler’s Wells.
