Together we explored the idea of words, journeys and natural objects together. People responded well to holding and examining tactile shells and stones as an immediate connection to the natural world. The beach lore of hag stones being a portal to other worlds felt compelling – what journeys has that stone been on? It’s important to feel we belong outdoors as well as indoors, and that we can align nature’s patterns to our own existence.

We looked at natural objects and pondered about their journey through time, alongside our own journeys through life. We traced the shape of our objects and wrote concrete poetry within these shapes to hold our imaginings and parallels or points of convergence with our own journeys through the world.

Curling waves of words stack vertically up on top of each other in this poem about the relentless sea. Each word has multiple echos of itself in a green blue colour, with the effect of vigorous movement.

…go gently into the garden of [im]possible dreams explores intersections between nature, chronic illness, and possibility.

It celebrates slowliness, different ways of being in the world, and creating together.

It is led by *conditions apply – a collective of artists based in East Anglia who all identify as living with chronic illness and/or as Disabled. We’re working in collaboration with originalprojects;, Norfolk and Norwich Festival and Unlimited.
