Ana Carla Maza
Thursday 21 May, 9.30pm
The Spiegeltent
Tickets: £10.00 - £20.00
A captivating voice of Cuba’s new generation.
A singular Cuban artist, poised between tradition and modernity.
Between Cuba and Chile, between Paris and Havana, Ana Carla Maza weaves a vibrant dialogue between the two Americas – a journey in which the cello becomes drum, voice and soul.
On stage, she radiates… singing, playing, dancing, and breathing music. Her cello is her travelling companion and her intimate orchestra. From bossa nova to son cubano, from bolero to bachata, from cumbia to tango, her music celebrates femininity, memory, joy and hope.
With soon-to-be-released ALAMAR, her luminous and deeply personal new album, Ana Carla Maza reimagines Cuban musical tradition, blending it with the freedom of jazz, the poetry of chanson and the sensuality of Latin American music. Born in Havana and raised between exile and music, she delivers an album of striking maturity — a tribute to her grandmother, to the women of the continent, and to resilience and beauty.
