Many creative people make art but only 10% of artists work full time selling their work. For the majority of artists, selling their pieces makes up a third of their revenue. If you’re interested in turning your craft or art practice into a business, this is the session for you. Suffolk-based artist Lily Hammond, an illustrator and mural painter, will lead the session, looking at the different revenue streams open to artists, so you can think more effectively and strategically about how to make art into a profession. We’ll explore exhibiting your work, how curation works and what it’s like to operate as an independent artist.

Artist Bio
Lily Hammond is the founder of Uwu Studio, a Suffolk-based artist, illustrator and mural painter whose work celebrates community, creativity and connection. Working across murals, live illustration, workshops and public art projects, Lily is known for her vibrant use of colour, expressive typography and playful, people-centred approach to making art.
Through Uwu Studio, Lily creates artwork that brings people together, transforming ideas, stories and shared experiences into bold, joyful visual pieces. Her work has been commissioned by schools, charities, local authorities, businesses and community organisations, often exploring themes of wellbeing, belonging, identity and positive social impact.
Passionate about making creativity accessible to everyone, Lily believes art can be a powerful tool for conversation, reflection and connection. Whether painting a large-scale mural or facilitating a community project, her aim is to create joyful, welcoming spaces where people can get involved, express themselves and feel seen, valued and heard.

Flock is a network of young people, aged 18-25 across East Anglia. Delivered with and for young people, FLOCK sets out to support Young Creatives – our future arts leaders. Joining FLOCK will give you the opportunity to network, develop creative skills, meet like-minded individuals, and access our Bursaries for Young Creatives.
