MONSTERS
Wednesday 21 May, 11.30am
Cinema City
MONSTERS is a post-apocalyptic fairy tale created by and starring children from East Anglia. In this experimental documentary, they imagine a world after monsters have arrived, exploring survival, change, and uncertainty.
Artists Andy Field and Beckie Darlington have worked with four primary schools, collaborating with groups of ten to twelve children at each school to write and perform their own fragment of the larger story. These separate strands are brought together in this final film.
The film blends fantasy and reality, reinterpreting disaster tropes through the eyes of a generation familiar with crisis, giving us a chance to re-evaluate our relationship with the places we call home, and to engage with the ecological challenges we face.
