Maya Youssef
New Paths Through Old Worlds
Wednesday 20 May, 7.30pm
Octagon Chapel
Tickets: £10.00 - £22.00
Artist in Residence Maya Youssef offers a first look at a new body of work exploring the meeting point between Middle Eastern and Celtic traditions. After becoming a UK citizen two years ago, she felt drawn to the musical heritages of all the British Isles and to the links she sensed between their modal languages.
Maya shares new music from her forthcoming album, created with musicians from Ireland, England, and Scotland. The performance brings together traditions with deep roots, revealing how their melodic shapes and emotional landscapes speak to one another.
