Presented by OUTPOST

Thursday 18 April – Thursday 20 June

This is a past event which has now ended.

OUTPOST at 20 celebrates 20 years of OUTPOST as East Anglia’s oldest artist-led space. This 10-week exhibition, selected by OUTPOST’s committee, acts as an archive to revisit the 165 exhibitions, diverse residencies, events and studio activity over the last 2 decades.

Reflecting on our 20th Birthday, the exhibition highlights the importance of artist-led and DIY arts spaces, as well as looking at the 60+ volunteers who have championed and led OUTPOST during their 2 year tenures on the organisation’s rolling steering committee. It journeys from OUTPOST’s founding in 2004 to the creation of OUTPOST Studios in 2010, all the way to the present as we look to the future.

The exhibition asks what the future could hold for alternative, autonomous art spaces, how to continuously challenge established norms, foster innovation, and create collaborative communities that fuel artistic expression and dialogue.

Arts make life better

Norfolk & Norwich Festival brings tens of thousands of people together in celebration – it has been doing this for 250 years. Through our May Festival and our year-round arts education work, focusing on children and young people, we lead and support celebration, creativity and curiosity in communities across Norfolk and the region.

This year we begin an exciting new initiative, Festival Connect & Create that will bring creative opportunities to those schools and communities with least provision. Creativity transforms people’s lives. It builds cohesive communities, develops vital skills and supports health and wellbeing. We want more people to have access to creative opportunities.

Please consider donating to support and develop this work. With your help we can increase access to the life changing power of the arts.
