Four hands, one instrument. Two of today’s most celebrated pianists, Pavel Kolesnikov and Samson Tsoy, join us for a very special concert at St Andrews Hall.

The 2025/26 seasons sees them all over the world: their debut as a duo at Edinburgh International Festival, Piano aux Jacobins, Portland Piano International, Piano a Lyon, Klavier Festisval Ruhre, and returns to the De Doelen in Rotterdam and Wigmore Hall. These dates follow recent appearances at Carnegie Hall, Berlin’s Konzerthaus, Bozar Brussels, and the Muziekcentrum de Bijloke in Ghent. Concerto debuts this season include with Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liege, and Flanders Orchestra.

In 2024 they released their debut album as a duo on Harmonia Mundi, which included works by Schubert and Desyatnikov. The album received rave reviews in The Guardian, Gramophone Magazine, Le Monde, and was described as ‘magical’ by BBC Music Magazine. It also was awarded the prestigious ‘Diapason D’Or’. The duo will release their next studio album in 2025.

Described as ‘piano magicians’ by The Arts Desk, the pair are renowned for their electrifying intimacy, musical balance and physical choreography. Here they perform Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring and two of Shubert’s four-hand masterpieces.

Stravinsky Rite of Spring

Schubert Divertissement, D818

Schubert Fantasie in F minor, D940

Arts make life better

Norfolk & Norwich Festival brings tens of thousands of people together in celebration – it has been doing this for over 250 years. Through our May Festival and our year-round arts education work, focusing on children and young people, we lead and support celebration, creativity and curiosity in communities across Norfolk and the region.

This year we begin an exciting new initiative, Festival Connect & Create that will bring creative opportunities to those schools and communities with least provision. Creativity transforms people’s lives. It builds cohesive communities, develops vital skills and supports health and wellbeing. We want more people to have access to creative opportunities.

Please consider donating to support and develop this work. With your help we can increase access to the life changing power of the arts.
