At this year’s Festival, look out for mixed-media and genre mash-ups.
Gandini Juggling will be treating us to their new show Sigma, which combines mesmerising juggling, classical Indian dance and sumptuous multimedia projections to create a truly breath-taking performance. And at Norwich Theatre Royal the celebrated Hofesh Shechter Company will be performing Grand Finale – a dazzling combination of cutting edge contemporary dance and live music.
We’ll be screening Sergei Eisenstein’s dramatic Russian epic Battleship Potemkin at Norwich Playhouse, bringing to life this captivating tale of revolution and revolt with a propulsive new score performed live by Jan Bang and guitarist Matt Calvert (Three Trapped Tigers). Also experimenting with sound is performance poet Hannah Silva, who will be showcasing her debut record, created with world-renowned Japanese sound artist Tomomi Adachi.
Perhaps our most unusual combination is from Jack Dean – part storytelling, part protest art project, his show Nuketown uses live animation and 10,000 pieces of Lego™. Best of all, you have the chance to join in and help Jack finish building his utopian city!
