Giant dolls during a Trans Express promenade

The best start to anyone’s Festival experience will be the Festival Launch when giant dolls promenade through the city and the streets will be filled with drummers who end the show suspended above the crowds on a giant mobile. For another truly uplifting show, head to Norwich Theatre Royal for Ladysmith Black Mambazo, the legendary South African a cappella choir who shot to global fame after featuring on Paul Simon’s Graceland album.

Norwich is a UNESCO City of Literature and this strand of the programme has everything from time travel and Lego™ cities to leading tennis coach Judy Murray and king of crime writing Jeffery Deaver. The Adnams Spiegeltent is iconic, glamourous and heaps of fun, so why not enjoy visiting it with a show that is all of these things – Le Gateau Chocolat’s Icons. And finally, the closing concert of this year’s Festival sees Britten Sinfonia performing one of the most popular and recognisable pieces of classical music, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5.

Arts make life better

Norfolk & Norwich Festival brings tens of thousands of people together in celebration – it has been doing this for over 250 years. Through our May Festival and our year-round arts education work, focusing on children and young people, we lead and support celebration, creativity and curiosity in communities across Norfolk and the region.

This year we begin an exciting new initiative, Festival Connect & Create that will bring creative opportunities to those schools and communities with least provision. Creativity transforms people’s lives. It builds cohesive communities, develops vital skills and supports health and wellbeing. We want more people to have access to creative opportunities.

Please consider donating to support and develop this work. With your help we can increase access to the life changing power of the arts.
