Caroline Jarrold Becomes Festival Chairman

Caroline Jarrold becomes Festival Chairman, continuing the Jarrold family’s long association with supporting the Festival.

Choral Conductor David Parry becomes the Festival’s chorus master, leading the festival chorus in several large-scale events over the next nine years.

The Festival secures performance violin soloist Tasmin Little. She is a global superstar and ambassador of widening interest of classical music to young people.

The 2007 Festival programme states:

“The purpose of the Norfolk and Norwich Festival isn’t simply to put on a world class show. It’s other goals include commissioning new work, developing cultural exchanges, bringing life to little-used venues, delivering arts education and celebrating the city, the county and their people. The oldest city festival in the country…runs for 16 days, up from 12 last year… continues trend of broadening artistic horizons… also includes world music, circus, comedy, drama, sound and video installations, storytelling, street theatre and puppetry.”

Arts make life better

Norfolk & Norwich Festival brings tens of thousands of people together in celebration – it has been doing this for over 250 years. Through our May Festival and our year-round arts education work, focusing on children and young people, we lead and support celebration, creativity and curiosity in communities across Norfolk and the region.

This year we begin an exciting new initiative, Festival Connect & Create that will bring creative opportunities to those schools and communities with least provision. Creativity transforms people’s lives. It builds cohesive communities, develops vital skills and supports health and wellbeing. We want more people to have access to creative opportunities.

Please consider donating to support and develop this work. With your help we can increase access to the life changing power of the arts.
