Young Creatives Professional Network - FLOCK

FLOCK is a network aimed at creatives aged 18-25, emerging onto the arts and cultural scene in Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire or Peterborough. If you or a young person you know or work with is looking to meet like-minded creatives, gain new professional local contacts and hear about creative career opportunities, including our Bursaries for Young Creatives, then join FLOCK!

FLOCK supports young creatives, our future arts leaders, through developing skills, sharing sector knowledge and growing a cultural community for young creatives. Designed and delivered by young people, for young people through a cohort of six co-directors, who programme and deliver FLOCK events.

FLOCK Co-Directors

The FLOCK Co-Directors are made up of young people, aged 18-25, from across East Anglia who have an interest in or active practice in socially engaged work. Supported by members of the Festival team, they meet throughout the year to design and deliver network events and lead on the direction of FLOCK. During their time as a Co-Directors, they will decide policies, themes, venues and speakers. In addition, each member will take the lead on producing a network event.

Nathan Wyatt

I’m a local campaigner who currently runs Norwichgigs.com, finding all the music and events in Norwich. I work as a youth adviser, helping young people navigate problems in their daily lives. I’ve previously organised big student events, like the Big Free Concert and UEA’s 60th Anniversary Concert. I use my experience working with students and young people to create experiences that resonate with a younger audience. I’m looking forward to being a FLOCK Co-Director!

Marco Yuen

I am a working artist based in Norwich. Currently doing a Fine Art degree in Norwich University of the Arts. I use a wide range of media such as poetry, interactive installations, live performances, and mixed-media sculptures. I was born and raised in Hong Kong until my family settled in England 5 years ago, I am aware of how important it is for people with different backgrounds and beliefs to talk about their cultural identities and passions. I also volunteer at Anteros Arts Foundation, I look for every opportunity to communicate with people and make connections in the local art scene. Love a good chat over a coffee!

Suzanne Chung

I’m a socially-engaged artist, creative producer, facilitator, and community advocate.

My art is rooted in creative and empathetic storytelling, highlighting the experiences of underrepresented people: including immigrants, women and girls, and young people. I have adopted a multidisciplinary approach to this, whether through writing, zine making, visual arts (including painting and collage), or videography. Art is meant to be enjoyed by anyone and everyone; it allows people to develop an understanding of unfamiliar topics, fosters empathy, and creates connection and community.

Gina Stock

I am a Suffolk-based theatre director and producer and incoming GM for Southwold Arts Centre. I have worked with INK Festival, Sunrise Film Festival and was a young artist for the James Holloway Youth Arts Fund.  I have directed across London, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Brighton and a USA tour. A recent graduate from the University of Cambridge, I’m excited to bring my skills to FLOCK and I’m passionate about the importance of facilitating a network of young creatives in East Anglia, especially in the current sociopolitical climate.

Edie Carter

I am a history student and early-career creative producer. Alongside my studies, I am currently serving as co-chair of the RSC’s Youth Advisory Board and working as a Young Producer at the Fitzwilliam Museum. I’m interested in shaping projects from the first idea to the live experience, and in collaborating closely with artists and audiences. I am keen to create work that feels bold, imaginative, and rooted in real connections with the communities it’s made for.

Maria Ikombo

Maria (she/they) is a passionate cultural practitioner specialising in oral history, archival research and community-led storytelling. Her work focuses on connecting people with place through heritage, memory and shared histories, with particular interest in how archives and local narratives shape cultural identity. Maria has contributed to a range of arts, heritage and public engagement projects, supporting research, programming and collaborative initiatives that centre community voices. As a Norfolk & Norwich Festival Flock Co-Director, she is excited to develop projects that bring together artists, organisations and residents to explore Norfolk’s landscapes, histories and cultures, creating inclusive programmes that reflect the region’s diverse stories and experiences.

Arts make life better

Norfolk & Norwich Festival brings tens of thousands of people together in celebration – it has been doing this for over 250 years. Through our May Festival and our year-round arts education work, focusing on children and young people, we lead and support celebration, creativity and curiosity in communities across Norfolk and the region.

This year we begin an exciting new initiative, Festival Connect & Create that will bring creative opportunities to those schools and communities with least provision. Creativity transforms people’s lives. It builds cohesive communities, develops vital skills and supports health and wellbeing. We want more people to have access to creative opportunities.

Please consider donating to support and develop this work. With your help we can increase access to the life changing power of the arts.
