The Band Stand returns, bringing with it a series of free musical evenings that celebrate outstanding local talent. Discover some of the region’s most promising artists al fresco, in the beautiful surrounds and warm summer air of Festival Gardens.

Thursday 14 May

Millie Kirkpatrick

Millie Kirkpatrick is an indie folk singer songwriter from Suffolk, known for her sharp lyricism, warm storytelling, and magnetic stage presence. Her songs blend intimacy with wit, creating a sound that feels both deeply personal and instantly memorable.

JenJen

8.15pm-9.15pm

Originally a solo project, JenJen now performs as a three-piece band, drawing on blues, jazz, and rock influences. Combining rich musical harmony and emotional lyrics, JenJen creates an intimate and powerful atmosphere.

Mount Hood

Mount Hood is the moniker of Norwich-based singer/songwriter Daniel Hopkinson, blending indie folk with ethereal textures. His songs explore nostalgia, fatherhood and the fleeting nature of time with quiet intensity and warmth. With influences including Gregory Alan Isakov, Pinegrove, Bon Iver and The National.

Paul Dewbery

Norfolk-based singer songwriter and instrumentalist Paul Dewbery has recently released 2 instrumental albums, which are available on all streaming platforms.

Scarlett Hogg

Scarlett Hogg is an 18 year old singer-songwriter from Suffolk. She’s been singing and performing since the age of 6. Expect ballads and indie pop.

With artistry that interweaves imagery and lyricism to explore life’s beauties and complexities, folk singer-songwriter, Naima has been enchanting audiences with her intricate mix of arresting vocals, grounded songwriting and fingerpicked melodies to create an atmospheric and compelling performance.”

Laura is a singer/songwriter based in Norwich. She channels fresh energies into her music across pop and dance. This year she has released the acclaimed Single ‘Echoes’ in February 2026.

e.m.arson (DJ)

e.m.arson is an experimental electronic artist and DJ crafting immersive sonic journeys through melodic textures, atmospheric soundscapes, and storytelling samples. They aim to spotlight the weird and wonderful. For fans of left-field, nu-wave, and EBM.

Tayste (DJ)

Seamlessly crafting eclectic sounds inspired through video-game music, Taylor Stephenson – professionally known as Tayste – offers a charismatic field of abrasive, distorted yet colourful tunes!

Sunday 17 May

Liv

Liv is a singer-songwriter rooted in Norwich. her music lies somewhere between indie intimacy and alt-folk, where she weaves personal truths and daily experiences into songs, finding inspiration from love, heartache and introspection from her life.

Dog at the Opera

4pm-4.45pm

Dog At The Opera is a genre-bending four-piece from Norwich, blending raw energy with thoughtful songwriting. Their sound bridges cathartic mosh pit and the intimacy of a late-night conversation, offering music that is both powerful and reflective.

Jim Holland

6.15pm-7pm

Jim Holland is a singer-songwriter blending English and American folk revival. He combines intricate fingerstyle guitar with thoughtful lyrics exploring themes from loss to deforestation. Taking inspiration from ’60s and ’70s greats, as well as early train blues, Jim’s lyrical approach has been likened to Bob Dylan and Paul Simon.

Thursday 21 May

Decorum

6.15pm-6.45pm

Decorum is a 4 piece student band from Norwich. Made up of Beatles lovers and Britpop fi ends, the group of Vocalist/Guitar player Soren Green, Guitarist Matthew Gee , Drummer Matty McKiernan & Bass player Anthony-Rolf Atkinson bring an unapologetically themselves performance that packs both an electric punch and acoustically sombre tone.

Narcolepsy

Narcolepsy are a 5-piece shoegaze/dreampop band from Norwich, UK. Characterised by shimmering, glittery guitars and dreamy voices. Like a warm, nostalgic dream.

Echo Located

Echo Located is a folk-pop musician who uses a clever little box (a loop pedal) to craft clever little tunes (mega harmonies) live on stage. They combine rattles and slaps and guitar mishaps with intriguing melodies, all while wearing no shoes.

Pilot Light

8.15pm-9.15pm

There’s a sense of forward momentum and intrigue flowing through Norwich based Pilot Light’s tightly woven Alt-Pop, with tracks forming softly-focused snapshots of revelations both quiet and loud.

Bayou

Bayou is a Norwich based quartet, fusing garage-indie with alt-rock. Familiar faces from previous projects blend fresh, energetic vibes with contemporary sounds, cut with raw guitar riffs and vocal lines. For fans of “if Jamie-T fronted Pinegrove on an alt-rock bender”.

Norfolk & Norwich Festival brings tens of thousands of people together in celebration – it has been doing this for over 250 years. Through our May Festival and our year-round arts education work, focusing on children and young people, we lead and support celebration, creativity and curiosity in communities across Norfolk and the region.

This year we begin an exciting new initiative, Festival Connect & Create that will bring creative opportunities to those schools and communities with least provision. Creativity transforms people’s lives. It builds cohesive communities, develops vital skills and supports health and wellbeing. We want more people to have access to creative opportunities.
